2. What does their mini-bio say about them? Do we have common interests? I pass on bios containing silly comments or nothing at all. Does he or she have a photo of themselves? If they have a blank, a symbol, or a cartoon, I'll pass.
4. Quid Pro Quo. If I follow, will that person follow back? If the person has 10,000 followers and is following only 500, I won’t assume he or she will find me to be one of his or her favorite few.
5. Cross-promotion, or reciprocity, makes a lot of sense plus it’s the right thing to do. For every writer or author who follows me, I make it a habit to find something about them or one of their books to re-tweet. Several other fellow Tweeters follow this practice too.
5. Finally, I stopped following persons who tweet about being able to get some humongous number of followers for a price.
